Research on Emotion in Organizations is the publication of the Emonet listserv http://www.emotionsnet.org, which hosts the biennial International Conference on Emotion and Worklife. Chapters in the series include a selection of peer-reviewed papers from the conference, together with invited chapters by leading scholars in the field of emotion in organizational settings.
Research on Emotion in Organizations comprises chapters describing multidisciplinary research into affect, emotion, and mood in organizations at all levels of analysis, including within-person variation, individual differences, interpersonal exchanges, groups, and organizations. Chapters include theory-review, quantitative research, and qualitative research content.
Research on Emotion in Organizations (REO) provides insights into the antecedents and consequences of affect, emotion, and moods in organizations, which is one of the fastest-growing areas of scholarship in the organizational sciences. The Emonet listserv, founded in 1997, has been at the forefront of the movement to recognize the important role of emotions in organizations. Following the publication of four other books based on the Emonet conference, the REO book series began in 2005, and remains a key part of this movement.
Research on Emotion in Organizations is essential reading for all academics, researchers, and practitioners who are interested in the role affect, emotions, and moods play in organizational settings. The series:
• Acts as a forum for debate and the publication of peer reviewed theoretical and empirical articles that shed new light on the topic of emotion in organizations.
• In conjunction with the biannual International Conference on Emotion and Worklife provides a unique opportunity for the exchange of peer reviewed knowledge across the whole spectrum of emotion in organizations, at all levels of analysis.
• In conjunction with the Emonet listserv, facilitates the establishment of working networks of scholars from across the globe who are interested in the study of emotion in organizational settings.
Research on Emotion in Organizations particularly encourages academics, researchers and practitioners, wherever they are in the world, to share their experience, knowledge and practices with an international audience. Authors who are interested in contributing to the book should check the Emonet website for news of the International Conference on Emotion and Worklife. This is a peer-reviewed conference held biannually at different sites around the world, usually adjacent to major international conferences in management and organizational psychology.
Chapters published in Research on Emotion in Organizations cover all areas of research into the antecedents and consequences of affect, emotion and mood in organizations. Topics include, but are by no means restricted to:
• Affective events theory
• Emotional intelligence
• Emotional labor
• Mood regulation
• Physiology of emotion
As well as the role of affect, emotions, and mood in:

Neal M. Ashkanasy is a Professor in the UQ Business School at The University of Queensland, where he received his PhD in social/organizational psychology. Coming late to academia after a career in engineering, his research has focused on leadership, organizational culture, ethics, and emotions in organizations. He has published in the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management Review, the Journal of Organizational Behavior, The Leadership Quarterly, and the Journal of Management. He administers two listservs, Emonet and Orgcult, and is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Associate Editor of Emotion Review, and Series Co-Editor of Research on Emotion in Organizations.
Charmine E. J. Härtel is a Professor in the UQ Business School at The University of Queensland with research areas in the role of emotions in organizational, group, employee and customer behavior; workforce diversity, cross-cultural management, leadership development, and employee wellbeing. Her publications have featured in the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Management and Human Resource Management Review. She is author of the textbook Human Resource Management: Transforming Theory into Innovative Practice, Associate Editor of Academy of Management Learning and Education, and Series Co-Editor of Research on Emotion in Organizations.
Wilfred J. Zerbe is Professor of Organizational Behavior and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research interests focus on emotions in organizations, organizational research methods, service sector management, business ethics, and leadership. His publications have appeared in books and journals including The Academy of Management Review, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Psychology, Journal of Services Marketing, and Journal of Research in Higher Education. He is Series Co-Editor of Research on Emotion in Organizations.
